Visit the French capital and its surrounding area for a once-in-a-lifetime holiday.
In Paris, you’ll walk the mythical Champs Elysées (take your walking shoes – it’s long!), climb the Arc de Triomphe, marvel at the Eiffel Tower from Trocadero, eat ice-creams on Île de Saint Louis, visit Notre Dame on Île de la Cité, wander the steep, narrow streets of Montmartre, picnic in the Luxembourg or Tuilerie Gardens, visit the museums… and return to the calm of your campsite in the evenings, exhausted !
Of course, if you have kids with you, you’re probably going to have to include a day trip to the most famous fun park of them all, Disneyland Paris! For some insider tips, have a look at our guide to planning a camping holiday around a visit to Disneyland Paris.
But one of the best places in the region, in our book, is the fabulous Forêt de Fontainebleau, the second-largest forest in France. Bordered by three rivers, this forest park offers loads of parkland to explore and numerous activities : 150 kms of walks, 200 rock-climbing routes for all levels of climbers, and the château of Fontainebleau to visit.
There is so much more to this region: the world-famous Palace of Versailles, the small, scenic river villages like L'île-Adam on the banks of the Oise....and so much more.
Have you already done a camping holiday in Île-de-France? If not, now is the time!
