Finistère is on the wild Atlantic coast, so if you’re not a fan of super-high summer temperatures, this part of Brittany, cooled year-round by the Atlantic breeze, might be the place for you to take your summer holiday.
Although the water is bracing, the beaches of Finistère are beautiful for walking and playing on. They are also full of treasures for family fishing expeditions. Equip yourselves with buckets and nets and spend the morning in search of crabs and shrimps for lunch, in the rock pools which characterise the coast.
The towns of Finistère are also interesting to visit. From Quimper in the south, with its Gothic cathedral of Saint-Corentin and lively town centre, to Brest in the north, where you’ll see Tanguy tower, Fort Montbarey and an aquarium with a collection of over 1000 species of fish.
