Comprising Alsace, Lorraine and Champagne-Ardenne, the Grand Est region is a place for wine tourism, beautiful landscapes, fantastic hikes, interesting towns and cities to visit and of course, good food!
The vineyards of Alsace offer superb walks, and are near charming villages like Riquewihr and Eguisheim, and lots of campsites. The vineyards of Champagne are home to the world's most famous bubbles - and plenty of great sightseeing.
Strasbourg's Grande Ile, or historic centre, is full of historic monuments and charming districts. Colmar, on the Alsace wine route, is colourful and full of flowers, with a magnificent medieval centre. Reims, the home of champagne, has one of the most famous - and impressive - cathedrals in the country.
For a bit of R&R, the region has numerous thermal spas - Vitel, Contrexéville, Plombières-les-Bains.
