Campsites in Hérault

Hérault is one of the most popular departments in France among campers. With its Mediterranean beaches, historic towns and villages and fab weather, there are no end of good reasons to take a camping holiday in Hérault!

There are loads of great seaside resorts here, to splash around in the azure waters of the Mediterranean. Some big names are Carnon, Valras, Palavas-les-Flots, Sète, Marseillan, La Grande-Motte, Cap d'Agde and Vendres, but there are many others too, all well supplied with campsites of all types.

The Hérault back-country is magnificent too. The Cévennes natural park offers walks in extraordinary landscapes, the Hérault gorges are a delight for nature lovers and canoeists, and the Salagou lake offers a whole range of water sports in an amazing natural setting of red rocks and basalt chimneys. You’ll easily find a campsite near all these natural wonders.

Some of the most beautiful villages in France make for super day trips: Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert and its UNESCO listed abbey, Olargues and its Pont du Diable, Minerve, with its Cathar history and wine-making culture. The big cities are worth a visit too: Montpellier is young and dynamic, Béziers is a great place to understand the workings of the magnificent Canal du Midi, and what about Sète, a magnificent port?
