Campsites in Occitanie

Occitanie is a region of contrasts, with its long Mediterranean coastline, historic cities, scenic countryside and the Pyrenees mountain range.

The Occitan coastline is lined with magnificent seaside resorts. To name but a few : Cerbère, a paradise for diving enthusiasts on the border of Spain, Port-Barcarès, an authentic resort on the amethyst coast, Canet-en-Roussillon, the 'resort with two faces', Argelès-sur-Mer, at the foot of the Albères massif, Collioure, a charming fortified port between the sea and the mountains, Cap d'Agde and its volcanic beaches, or Grau-du-Roi, at the gateway to the Camargue. There are campsites everywhere, from luxurious, glamping resorts to natural and eco-friendly campgrounds.

The Occitanie region is also full of charming and historic towns and villages. Carcassonne is one of the most famous fortified cities in the world. Albi is full of magnificent monuments, including its cathedral. Roman Nîmes has many remains and a perfectly preserved arena. The Pont du Gard, a breathtaking Roman aqueduct, is a stone's throw away. Montpellier and Toulouse, beautiful and lively cities, are not lacking in attractions either. The villages are not to be outdone, with St-Guilhem-le-Désert, on the gorges of the Hérault, St Cirq-Lapopie, which dominates the Lot valley, Cordes-sur-Ciel, a perched village in the Tarn, Sarlat-la-Canéda, a medieval city, Rocamadour, the village on the cliffs...

The region even includes two mountain ranges, for the joy of skiers, cyclists and hikers: the Pyrenees and the Massif Central. Fresh air, art and history, mountains and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean: Occitania has it all. And the good news is that Occitanie has the most campsites in France.
