Exact facilities open year-round will depend on the specific campsite you choose, so make sure to ask before booking, if there are certain facilities that will make or break your trip. Outdoor pools, waterparks and kids clubs will generally only be open in the warmer months. In the cooler months, look out for indoor pools, as well as facilities like playgrounds, hiking trails nearby and bike hire, which are generally usable all year.

What is the climate like in France throughout the year?

France is a big and varied country, so the climate depends on exactly where you go. The south (Mediterranean coast) stays relatively mild year-round, perfect for exploring and doing sports in autumn, winter and spring, but so hot in summer that the only activity you might be able for is sunbathing! Visit the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park in the winter months to enjoy the beautiful pine forest and eco-museum. The south of France boasts a mild climate and lots of sunshine, making it a great place to get some vitamin D at any time of year. Lots of our open-air resorts are near the coast. In our opinion, the waters of the Mediterranean never really get too cold for a dip or some sailing or kayaking, but others prefer long walks on the beach or along the stunning coastal paths during winter. The great thing about the Mediterranean coast is that the hills are so nearby too – so autumn and winter hikes in the mountains with stunning coastal views are aplenty.
