South Africa is a dream destination for a camping holiday, whether you're looking for a back-to-nature safari camping experience, a coastal camping holiday or a luxury outdoor vacation. Campsited is at present building a selection of quality campsites in beautiful South Africa and in amazing neighbouring countries, such as Botswana and Namibia.
Would you like to stay in a fabulous eco-cottage in the heart of the karoo, in a treehouse villa in your own private forest, in a farm villa, a cute stone mountain cottage, or will you dare to sleep under the stars in a tent in an eco-camp in the desert? All of these experiences and more are on offer right here!
And South Africa really lends itself to an outdoor holiday. You'll already know this from images of its famous Western Cape with its stunning nature and beaches, the culture and gastronomy of Cape Town, the history and superb hikes up and all around Table Mountain, the Stellenbosch winelands and the iconic drive along the pretty coastal villages of the 200km coastal Garden Route.
We certainly recommend spending time in the Cape Town area, then driving the lovely Garden Route and staying at our first South African campsite, Oppi Dam, which is located in a nature reserve just inland of George, Mossel Bay and Knysna, for the best of both worlds: a stay in the heart of nature and super day trips to the coast. But also look beyond the big names and go-to places - be inspired by the incredible locations of some of our open-air resorts listed below.
Experience the togetherness of a camping holiday with loved ones and create unforgettable memories.
Escape to the sea, mountains or countryside....Have a break and breathe again!
A splash in the pool with the kids. A sunset on the beach. Rediscover the fun and beauty in the simple things in life.
Much of Botswana is covered by the Kalahari Desert and most campsites are found to the north, in the lush Okavango Delta area. This enormous game reserve is home to beautiful national parks including Chobe, Gemsbok, Makgadikgadi Pans and Nxai Pan… the perfect place to see wildlife such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and hippos.
Namibia is known for its diverse wilderness and countryside, making it perfect for a back-to-nature camping holiday. Discover the stunning landscapes of the ancient Namib desert and the Fish River Canyon. Explore the wildlife of the Etosha national park and the breathtaking night skies above the Namib-Rand nature reserve. Action lovers should head to the coastal resorts of Swakopmund or Walvis Bay, for watersports and dune sports. And don’t miss a chance to experience Namibian culture at a living culture museum, hosted by the Himba and other tribes.
