Camping in Northern Cape

Whilst Northern Cape occupies over a third of South Africa’s landscape, the sparse population here means that it’s diverse desert, mountain ranges and majestic rivers reign supreme in this untamed land, making this a must-see destination for campers seeking culture, connection and sanctuary.

Flowing gracefully from East to West, between Western Cape and Namibia, the Orange River is one of nature’s greatest spectacles and boasts some of the best riverside campsites in Northern Cape. Bask in the starlight of uninterrupted night skies or shower in the open air whilst your mind escapes amongst the Richtersveld Desert’s vast, arid landscape. You’ll never tire of the plethora of birds, flora and fauna staring back at you!

Further along the river, be sure to check out Namaqualand Diamond Coast, where rugged desert meets the untamed ocean, or Agrabies Falls Natural Park for gravity-defying waterfalls, vibrant wildflowers and epic hiking trails.
